BusinessDaily.eu – Mikkel Roland Egesberg – In the last article we looked at the unemployemnt rate and in this article we will take another look at the development in the number of Americans not in the labour force:
As you can see, the number of Americans not in the labour force has gone up from 70 million in the year 2000 to 87 million Americans in 2012. But that does not show us how many Americans are in the labour force compared to people not in it. The figure below however does:
As you can see, the number of Americans employed out of the total population has gone down from around 65% in 2000 to about 59% in 2012, a drop of 6 percentage points.
